Grandpa came to visit. You call him O-ma. You love him so much, you woke up at 3AM to play with him and wouldn’t let him out of your sight. You are very much your grandfathers grandson, the way you act, talk, and stand. I can’t wait to see your relationship to grow with him over the years.

We went back to Melbourne with Grandpa, and guess what- your Mummy got a job down there. We are moving down in a month. This picture summarises our week perfectly, it was mayhem, perfect wonderful mayhem with a great response. We got to see Daddy, and he came back to Canberra with us for the weekend. It kills me how deep your love flows for your family.

I’m so excited to start our next adventure together, with you by my side I know anything is possible.

I love you more than anything my beautiful little sir.

Love always,

you Mama x

For Mothers Day you took me to the zoo. You LOVED the crocodiles, and we watched them for about an hour. This gave me a really good chance to play with the soft lighting offered by the aquarium. We have conversations now, you tell me what you want and I try to get it for you. You also do things for me, it’s incredible. You are so grown up I try so hard to treasure every.single.moment because they pass so quickly.

Thank you for a very special Mothers Day.

I love you more than the stars and the moon and all of the sky.

This one deserved three shots, blowing out grandpa’s candles.

15/52CWe drove all Friday (after three days apart due to Mummy’s work schedule) to visit Grandpa for his 60th birthday. You travel so well, you make every trip a breeze. Your Grandparents were so excited to see you, and you them. You even called them by their names ‘Gma’ and ‘Gpa’. You helped Grandpa to blow out his candles, and oh how we laughed as you were ready to blow from the moment the cake arrived on the table. Between you and me, kid, I think you were the best birthday present a Grandpa could ask for!

Daddy came to visit, and you spent all Saturday completely wrapped up in each other. You watched movies, dance, sung, and laughed together. On Sunday we went to The Canberra Airport Open Day. You were in complete awe of the planes and they flew over head and as we walked passed them. You gave the man on stilts a high five, and you got to pet a police dog. You were very sad when Daddy left, but we explained it to you this time so you know that he is away, and that when I leave the room I am coming back. You are floating through this, with a few dips along the way, but Oliver for a child who has gone through so much change you seem to glide through life with a smile on your face and a ‘gradgon’ in you hand.

We’re doing really well, you and I. We talk to Daddy every day and you slobber all over my phone giving him kisses. You are still exploring this wonderful world with every fibre of your being. But you respect me, and you listen too me– sometimes. It rained and your sandpit became slush. You and Mia slashed, and dug, and made a whole little world in that shell. It was wonderful to watch.

We are a team, you and I. You have learnt to listen, and agree, and even HELP!! You have chores, you empty the bins every night and then play with the buggies outside. You don’t run from me, you hold my hand on the road and walk next to me on paths. You go to bed at 7:30 every night. We still have our moments, you hate being strapped into the car seat and you really like being outside- even if it’s raining.
You sit and play with your trains for hours, this is odd for me. I can leave you to play whilst I cook, shower and even just read. Oh and you talk now, almost full sentences. You tell me to ‘look at that’, and ‘look a truck’. I ask you ‘what’s that?’ and you tell me ‘car”,bus’,’dragon’,’dog”. This is new, and this is amazing. And your memory is so great! Panda got a hair cut and you called her Hank, which is Auntie Bec’s dogs name, who has that exact hair cut. You are growing, and you are amazing. Wise beyond your years.

A day at the Collingwood Children’s farm. We saw the ‘bock bocks’ and a Turkey– although Babcia swore it was a duck you informed her is was ‘no no no duck!’ You loved the pigs and the ‘baaaa’. You ran around and you feed the chickens hay. You tried to explain the animals to other kids, but only you speak your language. You cried when we left, oh how you cried, but not without one last dash to see the ‘mooooo!’

You’re so much bigger than the other two year olds. Kids and parents expect you to act your size, but you simply cannot. This is really hard on you, and it’s hard for us too. This weekend that really showed. Kids get frustrated when you don’t talk back, and you try to join in but they expect much more from you. At a party this weekend you joined in with the older kids where you could, you even won musical chairs however you weren’t really playing. You were simply tired and just wanted to sit, you didn’t understand when the other kids got upset. But you did play with a Jessie doll, she kept you company whilst the older kids played their games. Today, we took you to get a Toy Story toy. You picked Buzz. I think he is going to be your best friend. You walked him around the house. you flew him, you kissed him, and you held his hand. You deserve him buddy. You are perfect, but not everyone always understands that. But we do, and he does.

I love you Oliver. I know it can be hard sometimes being so big, but keep being you and they will all catch up.

Love always, Mama J xx
